4 week class begins Sunday, July 4th

Ditch the clutter.

Find the joy.

Get your photos out of that shoebox...

and into your life.

Free yourself from photo clutter, and turn your best photos into
something that's as easy to create* as it is a joy to share.

*I'm not talking about elaborate scrapbooks, here. Obviously.

4 week class begins July 4th, 2010

Hiya! I'm Sally Jacobs, The Practical Archivist.

I've worked as an archivist for over 15 years, including stints at the Library of Congress Prints and Photos Division, the Wisconsin Historical Society Archives, and American Girl.

I've been giving friends and family advice on how to organize and preserve photos for almost as many years. I'm pretty much a hopeless geek on the topic, as anyone who knows me will tell you.

This is the most exciting program I've ever created. It's going to be a lot of fun! Read on...

 The Individual Classes:

1. How to preserve your family heirlooms so they last as long as possible.

2. How to ditch your photo clutter and organize what's left so you can find a specific photo easily and quickly.

3. How to write the stories behind your photos.

4. How to safely scan your photos and preserve the digital files long term.

Starting in a few days, you will be able to purchase single classes from Joy of Organizing Photos course. But first I want people to be able to purchase the entire course for the low price of $75. Individual courses will cost $35 each.

The Twitter Version:

Listen, I know you're busy. I mean, who isn't? So here's my Joy of Organizing Photos explained in small 140 character-sized bites. An executive summary, if you will. Or an abstract.

MAIN PRINCIPLES (in four tweets)

1. Purge your photo clutter, then treat the "keepers" right.

2. The shortest pencil is better than the longest memory.

3. Nostalgia is not a crime. Neither is acknowledging your accomplishments.

4. The unexamined life is not worth living.

Plus one bonus principle for my boomer friends:

Don't trust anyone under 30 to tell your story for you.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN (in two tweets)

1. How to de-clutter and organize photos, plus expert advice on how to preserve your treasures...even on a small budget. Plus scanning advice!

2. Easy peasy writing technique specifically designed for people who are afraid of writing. Or think they can't do it.

What you get in return for your $150 $75:

* Four 60 minute lessons by live phone call. Note: Your regular long distance charges apply.

* Each live phone lesson includes 30 additional minutes of Q&A time so you can ask questions.

* Recordings of each call available for download ASAP, usually within 24 hours but guaranteed within a week.

* Every week you also get a live 60 minute web conference where you can ask questions.Send your specific question via email by Tuesday night, and I'll answer it in the Wednesday chat. If you can't make the mid-day chat, the entire transcript will be available as soon as we're finished, so it's like you haven't missed a thing. (yay!)

MY FAVORITE PART is that in addition to expert advice and practical tips, you get a whole lot of encouragement, cheerleading, plus your very own photo organizing posse -- other family archivists struggling with their own photo clutter and wanting to protect the treasures properly.
