Did you know about this digital printing feature?

April 19, 2007

.
I had no idea this was possible, but Lee left a comment on the digital printing thread that Shutterfly offers the option of printing an inscription on the back of your photos. It’s called backprinting.

Holy cow is that brilliant. Just imagine NEVER writing on another photo again. Ever! And you don’t even have to feel guilty about not writing because, you know, the labeling is already done.

Anyone out there know how much this costs or if any other printers offer this service?

Yes, I have heard of it and my wife even uses the backprinting quite often in her prints.

I believe its free at Shutterfly…

Anonymous is correct, it is indeed free at Shutterfly, and I don’t think any others offer this service yet, at least not that I have found.

At Shutterfly backprinting is free and very easy to do. You can print a separate message on each print, or one message on a batch of prints such as “Easter at Grandmother Brown’s house-8 April 2007.

Wow. I think this is a fantastic feature. Every digital printer should offer it.

Could anybody scan an example of the backprinting (or is there a link to an example)? Thanks!
